Spring has SPRUNG in our little town of Sun Valley

The grass at my house is turning green!!! The pond is flowing, the trees are have tiny little buds everywhere. What a relief, winter is over!!!

This summer is very exciting for me. Kim Seybert who owns one of the most beautiful TABLETOP companies will be coming to our store for a TRUNKSHOW in early August. I can’t wait, not only will she be bring more summer ideas, she will also bringing new fall tabletop. I don’t  want to get ahead of myself, I only want to think of summer, dinner in the patio, birthday parties for friends, romantic dinners and dancing in our fruit orchard………

Some of my very favorite pieces from Kim Seybert are her outdoor melamine products, napkins and napkin rings. Mike and I saw red leaves on the vines hanging around our patio the other evening. Sigh, sigh, sigh, summer is passing. That night we had friends over for a little bite. I lit my Lafco Ski House candle in the living room and poof… without a fire in the fireplace the scent of the room changed as if we had. Isn’t it amazing how a fragrance can be created that changes the mood of the room? Soon we will all have real, crackling, fires burning in our homes igniting my favorite time of year, fall. Fall in Sun Valley is equally as beautiful as summer in my opinion. Sit back and enjoy the last days of summer, we are so happy to be here!

Sun Valley is know for it’s world class winter skiing. But no other place in the world compares to our Sun Valley summers. There is so much to do with art fairs, symphonies, concerts, hiking, biking, and spectacular fly fishing. BUT every year the Allen and Company Conference brings business and tech moguls to our valley. Thank You Herb Allen! One of my favorite CNN news anchors is here, Erin Burnett… I understand she’s engaged to Citigroup executive David Rubulotta. Congratulations Erin. I have my fingers crossed she will make her way into Ketchum and have a little shopping moment in my store Bellissimo and I can congratulate her personally. So many people I would love to meet AND so many wonderful people I have met over the 30 years of this conference. Here are some of our visitors this year!

Daisy Hill, A Starring Role In My Summer Movie…by Terry

Napkin rings by Deborah Rhodes and Kim Seybert. Napkins by Patricia Spratt, Placemats by Dransfield and Ross, melamine dinnerware by Le Cadeaux and of course the star of the movie the beautiful Daisy Hill. Doesn’t this sound like a movie with all the credits scrolling by? Having a great dinner party is somewhat like making a small movie. The cast of characters are your guests and the scene is set with colorful and rich place settings on a stage you’ve created for dinner. So here’s to a great summer of small productions at your home.

Not everyone can live in a ski resort…

Not everyone can live in a ski resort as beautiful as Sun Valley. I moved here 37 years ago, I actually had never skied and on top of that as a lark I told my parents, “I was moving to Idaho”. Being from west Los Angeles, I really had no idea where Idaho was. Never really knew ski resorts like this even existed. I was all about the beach. So 37 years later, I still live in Sun Valley and I love how much everyone who comes here in the winter loves to ski. In my store Bellissimo I have the most wonderful ski dishes, cups, platters, everything you need for that wonderful home you are going to buy when you too move to a ski resort like I did.

These beautiful plates by Chehoma are made in France and shipped directly to us. They go in the dishwasher, food looks fabulous on them, they are inexpensive and they are a must for anyone who loves to ski.
